"This picture was taken after the explosion that demolished a narrow building near the end of the block, two buildings after Hizzoners. You can see a small space between the buildings. It happened in 1974 or early 1975."You're right about the explosion (gas) but it happened on December 11, 1970. I remember that day because I was working on Church Street at the time, heard the blast and saw the smoke rising and had walked on Park Row earlier that day. |
