The question is why didn't they wait for the SBS? Could it be they didn't want to walk the extra blocks after they get off the SBS which ok'd be substantial in paces. Could it be they waited so long for the SBS to come and it didn't show up so rather than gamble standing out in the cold any longer, they just got on the local even if it were crowded? I know there are regularly gaps of 30 minutes on the M15. Why, at least until Bus Time, woudn't this be the case with the B44.

I know I will take a local train in hte cold rather than gamble on waiting for the express which may save you a few minutes.

I respect your opinion driving the bus everyday, but you still don't see the complete picture. You aren't waiting for a local on New York Aenue. You can brag as much as you want how great the SBS is, and in fact many passengers may like it, but you have to consider the local also in evaluating the success or failure of SBS.

Bullshit.
For your information, I live on New York Avenue (when I'm not driving to work, I take the 44 to the 41/Q35, so yes, I'm affected), so I can understand the pain of each and every passenger waiting on the bus. Fact of the matter is, local service needs to increase until the kinks are worked out.

Increasing local service on the 44 local will assist with the buses making it to their terminal and laying over in a timely manner, then returning on the southbound trip, ON TIME. New York Avenue is the main source of why the locals are being fucked in the ass right now (even before SBS launched), and they are even taking a big hit south of the Junction, but in due time that will work out once everyone is hipped to the SBS movements.

Not if you're going northbound to the Nostrand/Fulton Subway station, which was the maximum load point (MLP) before the changes.

What the MTA should have done was unseal the Bedford Ave entrance.

They didn't because of poor planning.

Do you think southbound auto traffic has been increased on New York Avenue because of the lane taken away from Nostrand during peak hours due to cars switching streets? Or are you working on Nostrand during those hours and don't know? If so, have you spoken to local operators who would know? If true wouldn't that be part of the reason for the locals not able to run in a timely manner?

rode a couple on the bx12, good rides. I don't see why they couldn't do the same with the front forward facing seats for the nova sets. the bench seats sucks, too cramped.

Southbound auto traffic isn't as bad as everyone thinks, since the synced lights along Nostrand keep things flowing. I thought it would've been a disaster for me, which is why I give myself an hour to get to work when in reality it only takes 25 minutes to breeze to the depot. I use Nostrand and Rogers regularly on my days off, but either way you see it, the traffic flow of ONE LANE on NY Avenue is absolutely horrendous. Another delay factor - Fulton Street; sometimes it takes 5-10 minutes to get through the block.

I'm all for creating a new route for NY Avenue, and pushing the 44 local onto Rogers Avenue (with trucating the 49 to Flatbush), for the simple fact that the entire Rogers corridor is as dense as Nostrand, more than New York Avenue, I should say... and in time will gain more ridership.

I also think they need to ban parking on the right lane of NY Avenue between Empire and Eastern Parkway between 7 and 10 AM if that doesn't exist already. I think the one or two blocks before Eastern Parkway may be No Standing Anytime, but that is not enough to avoid congestion.
