A few weeks ago I posted a shot of San Bernardino's "Big Blue" GM old look, from a recent Calilfornia trip.
Here's a few buses that are preserved coaches and / or "Hollywood bound" as movie/ commercial buses, as that is my friend's business.
Njoy the attached, 'specially after the fishbowl "Trane" video.

Nice to see the GM "old look" ex-RTD 6500 1948TDH-4510 the only one that was ever saved. All of these preserved buses are in great shape.!

Awesome pics thanks Joe.

I've wondered about it too, but remember, 5034 is simply one of 53 GMDD new-look artics built for Ontario agencies (Mississauga, TTC, HSR and I think OCTranspo) in 1982. My understadning is that this front end was used to provide a larger entrance for wheelchairs. Then a year later GMDD introduced the Classic 40-footer.

I'm not sure, but I think the only Classic artics were MCI units.

Two of the Hamilton units are preserved - one by HSR themselves and a second unit that was later purchased by OC Transpo since none of their original units survived.

Great pics!!

Re: pic #4--holy shit! I didn't think any of those SCRTD 1975 Flxibles had been preserved! I loved those buses when I lived out there. They had DDEC 8V71, I wonder though, if that bus has the original transmission, as RTD had converted some (all?) to a 4-speed Allison in the mid-80s, ruined the sound :(

Does that same friend of yours (if it is who I think it is, I know of him, though I don't know him personally) own 7373?

It's funny I wondered what happened to that bus (6500)- is it privately owned? That bus sported many a paint job- and your right wish we had her here in the lite green and dark green livery.

PLEASE Joe keep the ol pics coming, always a pleasure to see.

Gardena's colors are very similar to Command. 794 was one of 21 1997 Nova RTS-06s. I lived almost 15 years in Gardena before moving to So. Florida, so I am well-versed in their fleet. Their new garage is a mere 6 blocks north of where I lived, alas, it hadn't been built yet when I lived there. :(

I do believe 7373 belongs to him.
Not all the buses in this posting are in that same location. The Gardena RTS is on Gardena's lot; the Foothill Gillig is to be redone by Foothill as a historic coach. (All Gillig Phantoms are gone; imagine that!) Fishbowl 107 is on RTA Riverside's property; RTS 100 (x CitiFare, Reno) and those in that lot are my friend's.
The Viking, Starline RTS, Crown S14 and most of the others are in private hands or at Tour Coach and/ or "The Bus" (private ops)in Montebello.
RTS 8567 looks soooo deceiving. Was actually an LA (RTD) bus.
Flx 361 is private and was graciously taken out for us to ride and photo for a few days.
Yes, bus fanning can be funnnnnnnn!

I don't know, Joe, they've been sitting at Eastchester for almost 2 years now! It's a long shot at this point, and given the fact that the Orion V CNG bus #317 was saved there, then scrapped, I'm not so sure they'll save one of those. :(

As of right now, the Vikings are sitting along the south fence at Eastchester, just as they were when they were removed from service in 2010. They were pushed further north in the depot, only to be pushed back again, presumably to make room for more potential scrap buses. Yikes.
