The fishbowls lasted the longest of any bus here in NYC!They debuted in 1959 and NYCTA/MaBSTOA retired them in the 1990's, while NY Bus Service retired them upon takeover by MTA Bus in 2005! I rode them numerous times, and miss them dearly! |

Same here. I grew up watching them on the old Bx20 and Bx36 from our window. Then rode them to/from school for years. I remember I'd routhineline pass up Flxible new looks for and GMC. My favs were the 5309/10A and the '66 5303AC being a close second.I can understand why some of these guys are fans of the RTS as it has been good for NYCTA, but the GMC fishbowls are clearly the champs. Those buses had to suffer through the deferred-maintenance era of the 1970s and they still served us well for many years. Now, that's a bus! |

The RTS is the MAINSTAY of NYC BUS...and should be retained. |

The handling in the winter paints an ever clearer picture, and mechanics and operators paint the clearest picture.The writing is on the wall. Opinions on the other hand are just that.... Opinions. Instead of sending them here, they should go to ECH to be killed.Today I rejected 6547 on the Q55today because my favorite 1996 Nova was parked in front, but 6547 was leaving first. Other than that I would never pass up an OrionVII old gen.
