None have been in service. 6259 sat in the garage, 5227 sat in the garage and now 2969 is sitting in the garage.

I don't blame them, you have to drive them on the hill on Riverdale Avenue, the el pillars on Broadway, and that U-turn at the city line.

6259 was out at least during the first part of the week; I saw and photographed it extensively. 2969 was in BX 30 service all week; I saw it pull into the garage yesterday after finishing its morning run. The General Superintendent said it would not see service on the BX30 in the afternoon as it was being sent over to Kingsbridge for next week; he also said it did not experience any problems during the week and he was satisfied with its performance.

Listen, when I started driving bus, all I knew was power steering until I got involved with bus ownership with some friends of mines. Since then I've driven quite a few buses without power steering, isn't easy, BUT it isn't all that hard neither, as long as the bus is rolling the steering isn't all that different from power steering. Yeah, you gotta put a little more into turning but shit, thats what they did from MINUTE ONE until the Grumman buses showed up.

Shit back then bus operators didn't need to go to the gym!

All we have now are a bunch of steerers, where are all of our REAL BUS OPERATORS!!!!!!

True, it does. I would have been looking for 1059 had I not gotten a pic of it back in August when 8 buses were brought out for a Saturday in the Rockaways.

(At least four of the buses running now ran on that day.)

IMO, if nobody wants to drive the vintage bus out of KB Depot, then they should take the bus out of there and place it either on another GH line or on a WF line. It's a complete and utter waste for it to just SIT at KB Depot all week and collect dust.

This smells of union politics.

I know how this stuff goes down. The union rep, who always has beefs with management, tells the guys "if you're in an accident, don't make the issue of power steering an excuse. If that bus gets one sliver of chipped paint it's your ass because that bus gets checked with a fine toothed comb. If you drive that bus, I'll see to it your ovetime will be cut."

Sorry guys, union politics rule. It varies greatly from depot to depot.
