Plus, if there happens to be a 300 lb. man with body odor standing or sitting next to you, you can usually get off the subway whithin 1 or 2 minutes, and wait no more than 5 minutes (during the peak hours) for the next train. An express bus is a disaster when a situation like that arises. |

But, it's not a one seat ride. You need the Bx7 to the IRT 1. The BxM1/2 is a one seat ride, w/improvements i.e. BxM2 Super Express and IMO extension to 23 st. on the BxM1/2 it may be to many, inc. yourself to ride the express bus. |

But the Buxom1/2 take at best the same route as the Bx7, or at worst the same route as the Bx10/20 to get to where the (1) train is, making most of the same stops, so that cancels out the Bx7 ride. |

Incorrect. You made a post specifically to discredit what I said. You wrote: Hey..I didn't know that the Broadway/7th avenue Local went to RIVERDALE. The MAP sez it only goes as far as VAN COURTLANDT. Funny how that works out.. You were shown to be WRONG. And then instead of acknowledging your error, apologizing, and moving on, you instead only try to minimize the severity of your mistake by saying that no one really cares about the distinction. Obviously YOU care enough to make a whole post about it to try to discredit me. Except that you were 100% wrong and I was 100% right. IF you were a real man, you would simply acknowledge your error, apologize, and move on. But it's clear that that's not who you are. You'd rather start arguments. Also, Van Cortlandt is a park... |

The location in question is the W242 St. side. The original property extended in to Yonkers which was the property of the Van der Donck was known locally as the Jonkheer, a word from which the name "Yonkers" is directly derived. Express runs by and large are unproductive. A packed house one way, an empty house the other way. Sometimes a bus goes in service on an early trip toward Manhattan and has to d/h back for the next trip later in the same rush. Zero dollars in the fare box. Here is where the balancing act comes in. Maybe the d/h'ing bus arrives late due to heavy reverse commuting traffic. As it is, express buses are big time money losers. Ever since the first fishbowl express bus from SI ran in the late 1960's, an uncontrollable and unproductive monster was created which NYCT cannot kill. Too bad because the extinction of express buses, something that will never happen due to political pressures, would hold down the deficit and put resources where they could be used more efficiently. |
