Valley Metro here in Phoenix seems to have a unique stop annunciator system. Does anyone know who Valley Metro's "Route scout" is made by?

The system is made by Sunrise Systems (sign) and Orbital (GPS system).

The "Route Scout" is actually used by quite a few transit agencies. Some that I can think of off the top of my head are LACMTA (by far the largest user), OCTA (lbt 9415 correct me on this if i'm wrong), SamTrans, Hertz, Avis, Hi-Tran, SEPTA, and possibly MUNI (they may be clever devices).

However, the voices are all different. Valley Metro used a radio announcer to produce all of the announcements rather than use a computer voice like the other transportation systems. They have female voices and male voices (LACMTA has a male voice).

Also I was wondering who made the Fareboxes on Valley Metro's system? I have only seen the Valley Metro style farebox on Boston's T bus system. Other transit agencies seem to love to go for the lower tech, but more reliable GFI Genfare.

Also, is the ADMT screen that the drivers use also made by Orbital?

IIRC GFI makes the new (2007) fareboxes for Valley Metro, the 1998-2007 ones used in Tempe and the ones that were acquired with the Golden Gate Transit Novabuses (and retrofitted with a horrible card reader that took a minute just to slide through, since GGT didn't have farecards). BTW, the GGT fareboxes, which were also on some New Flyers and E-Z Riders, had a sticker saying "Please state your destination to the driver", left over from GGT's zoned fare system. Valley Metro has never used such a system or has planned to use one.

I don't know who made the 1982-2007 Phoenix/RPTA fareboxes.

The ADMT screen is made by Orbital and is also known as the "Vehicle Management System". This is where drivers program the Route Scout in and can also send text messages to the garages.

Weren't the 1982-2007 Phoenix/RPTA fareboxes also GFIs?

Maybe I've lived in Tucson too long and I've gotten used to the GFIs here such as in this photo:

I thought that the 1982-2007 Phoenix/RPTA fareboxes looked like older, less advanced, versions of this farebox.

I meant these new style fareboxes, I don't think these are GFI, but yeah the pre 2007 was GFI.

See, I think that the new style fareboxes are GFI Odysseys (although it is curious that they don't say GFI on them):

These are my best photos of them, which aren't great (and both are in 1996 New Flyer D40LF), I've seen that link you provided:

Thank you! I was always curious about this, yeah it doesn't say GFI anywhere on it., and GFI's website doesn't show pictures of this style farebox.

You're welcome:

If you look at the dimensions on this brochure, forgetting the fact that the top of the Valley Metro fareboxes look different, this is essentially what the Valley Metro buses have:

Does the Oddysey offer the same features as the "Valley Metro brand" whatever that may be? After doing some research, it looks as if it could be made by a company called CoinCard, but I am still not sure.
