My understanding is that the inventory database used by the TA could not accomodate 5-character fleet numbers. The TA learned of this shortcoming back in '93 which is why they had to renumber the first of the '93 Orion Vs.That was in 1993, when a lot of systems couldn't handle four-digit years, either. |
