Well, gas and wear-and-tear also vary based on the type of environment you're driving in (city vs. highway). If you're able to go a half mile or a mile between stops (or have a portion like the Q52/53 over Jamaica Bay), that's better for the bus than having to constantly start and stop for traffic lights and passengers like you would in a busier area.

In any case, I compiled a rough draft of a list based on revenue hours, and total revenue miles (which would take into account short-turns), and both of these metrics take into account the level of service that a route is provided with.

The only issue is....I mistakenly asked for 2017 data when the ridership numbers were from 2016. So I'm either going to need the 2016 ridership data, or I'm going to need to hold onto the list and just update it when the 2017 numbers come out.

The only time where it really makes a huge difference (aside from routes with super-significant levels of ridership increase) is for routes like the X28 weekend service, where the service only operated for 3 months.
