I think the natural target of such advertising would be Nassau and Suffolk counties, with the responsible entity being LIRR. I don't see that much of a difference within the City of New York, as most people within the City already know if they're going to go by public transportation, taxi, or otherwise. Yes, the slightly-faster speed of the Q70 might cause a few such individuals to change their minds, but not that many. Remember, we've had "express" service from the subway to the airport before (recall the QT service from 21st Street-Queensbridge), and it really did not do much to increase overall public transportation use by City residents to the airport. The real improvement is that there is now a viable means for people from Nassau and Suffolk counties to use public transportation to LaGuardia, and that's what should be advertised. |
