The original intent of the JFK Flyer was to get people who commute from Long Island to ride the LIRR to Rockville Centre & connect to the Flyer from there. This was a subsidized venture by the Port Authority that was meant to improve traffic & parking, esp. for airport workers. Unfortunately, it never lived up to expectations. After all,how many Long Islanders are going to give up their beloved cars to ride a glorified Thomas school bus, making local stops the whole way? |
