I know, and the S89 can tap even more into that market by switching places with the S59 and extending to Tottenville.Yup, just like I proposed in the OP. But the problem is that I still don't think there is enough demand to support both an express bus and local bus in the same SI-JC market. I mean, the S89 gets decent ridership (more or less a seated load going over the Bayonne Bridge), but an express bus would eat into that ridership. But now that the tolls have been raised, people are going to look for more alternatives, and there might be enough ridership to split between the 2. You think the transfer might be to blame? Express bus routes are designed to carry nothing more than a seated load anyway. |
