Richmond Terrace riders west of Port Richmond Avenue won't have service to the ferry. Extending the S57 to St. George is overkill, and no one is going to ride the S53 extension.The S46 is close enough to Richmond Terrace west of Port Richmond Ave and runs alot more frequent than the S40. The S59 alone won't be enough to handle Richmond Terrace because of the length of the route and I don't know what would make you think no one would ride an S53 extension. I don't see how this would help the S44, the S44 serves a completely different area than the S44 between Lafayette Avenue & Forest Avenue. The S46 is packed to the gills most of the day like the S40 and S48, and diverting riders to the S46 is a terrible idea, especially when the current routing isn't artic-friendly. The S44 won't be the only the bus that runs to the SI Mall on the north shore, and the S46 used to run a lot more frequently back in the early 2000s. They could always add more service to the S46 after the S40 is gone. |
