A lot of your reasons can be applied to trains too.1. "No, buses still suck all of those times." EARTH to Terrapin Station, You gotta get a new brain. Trains are not convenient if there are nearby. Like... Staten Island North Shore... No train, use buses. AGAIN, Trains do suck the same way as Buses. BTW, YOU suck. -------------------------------------------------------------- 2. In fact they suck more because they have no trains to ride instead. Do you want a...  ---------------------------------------------------------------- 3. "buses suck because you usually have to wait outside for them" Umm, trains do suck also when you are outside of the station waiting on the platform if there is a shelter. Inside you have to wait as well... no heat/no ac. Plus, do most of the Subway stations carry timetables.... NO. Yet you still wait to see when the train comes. Example the Queens Boulevard local on a WEEKEND. No G train on Queens Blvd. No problem, wait for the R = Rarely shows up. Alternative... Q60 Bus. Maybe YOU suck because you dont like to waiting for a bus? Wait a minute, how come you said you hate buses? -------------------------------- 4. "they are at the mercy of other surface traffic and thus never run on schedule and are always late" So, does the trains as you said. Subways have been often delay and late, yet can not predicted it. Due to customer assistants, track work, weather related, police, fire, etc.... Trains do bypass stops or just plain stop for a moment or diverted to other lines and riders do get affected. Even track work on the Brighton line when they closed the stations due to station work, riders either board a bus (B3K) or another train to get to their destination. How INCONVENIENT is that! -------------------------------- 5. "they place high g-forces on the riders bodies when they accelerate and stop and turn and there's no good way to hold on usually so it's very uncomfortable" Ahh, so does the trains. They turn and its uncomfortable to hear the shreech noise. Go on a crowded train on a R160 car with out holding your hands on the pole, just standing freely... when it brakes or comes to full stop, you would likely fell down. Some trains jolt and some go sway side to side..... Nothing is a perfect world Terrapin Station.... You must have fell down and hurt your ASS because you didnt hold the pole to tightly so call G-forces. ------------------------------- 6. "there's no good way to hold on usually so it's very uncomfortable" So does the train, example a crowded R160 train. The poles near the seats should be on the middle... BTW, no one uses the middle stretch handrail on top. And yes its very uncomfortable of holding the pole or the handrail while you standing on the train moving. -------------------------------- 7. "they get stuck in traffic all the time," So does the trains. You can get stuck at the terminal, like Coney Island, Flatbush Avenue... or a Major transfer station, like Dekalb Avenue, Columbus Circle, Franklin Avenue... and many more. ---------------------------------- 8. "they're slow, boarding takes forever" Ah so does the trains, it takes lots of time boarding and de-boarding at the same rate, plus people hold the doors---trains get delay. Not on buses where you can not even hold the doors to get in. ----------------------------------- 9. "it's a pain in the ass to exit them," Ah, so does the trains, crowded train means you have to get a game plan to get the location to the door like buses. ---------------------------------- 10. "you never know when they are going to come," Ah, so does the trains, Most of the stations carry which trains arrive display at the station entrance. Yet do they work all the time? Sometimes. Do they post timetables on all the station? No, if you lucky to find one. Yet MAJORITY of the people still have to wait on the platform not bother reading which train is coming. ---------------------------------- 11. "there's no way to buy a metrocard" Your point is..... There are many places to buy a MetroCard. Buses accept coins up front, not like trains. ------------------------------------ 12. "it can be way too hot in there" So, take your clothes off. All buses and trains are automatic AC. -------------------------------------- 13. "the windows may be stuck or out of reach," Again, take your clothes off. All buses and trains are automatic AC. ---------------------------------------- 14. "people don't move to the back" So does the trains, people dont move away from the doors when they lean on it and block by incoming and outgoing passengers. Plus people dont like to move places when there are open spaces. ---------------------------------------- 15. "there's no destination or route signs on the driver's side" There is no reason to do that. If you on the driver side of the street. You have many views to see the destination signs on the nose and the route sign on the rear of the bus. ------------------------------------------ 16. "the drivers can pretend they don't see you and drive away" Not all Bus operators do that unless there is a GOOD reason. Probably they want to avoid YOU. ------------------------------------------- 17. "they splash people standing at the curb," No, its the people who are standing should be more careful. Maybe they splash YOU intentionally. --------------------------------------------- 18. "they make you step through puddles and snow to get to them if the driver doesn't pull up to the curb" And.... so does the trains do when are outside of the platform there puddles that are deep, snow that didnt shovel. Plus going to the inside and outside of the station, you can get your shoes and pants dirty by walking through the slush and the puddles. -------------------------------------------- 19. "their mirrors can whack people" Because they people stand on top of the curb and either they dont see the bus coming to park at the bus stop or ddint pay attention at all. Did YOU get whack by a mirror? --------------------------------------------- 20. "their motors make the whole back of the bus vibrate uncomfortably, especially at low RPMs" So does the trains, trains vibrate all the time with lots of motors. - Simple solution, Dont sit at the rear seats. WOMAN loves to sit at the rear seats to warm their butts up. -------------------------------------------- 21. "they bunch up - making one bus SRO" Trains do bunch up and make one train an SRO in a period of time. -------------------------------------------- 22. "another bus virtually empty along the same route at the same time" Trains do, (cough) M train in Brooklyn to Bay Parkway (cough) W train on to/from Brooklyn (cough), and others as well. -------------------------------------------- 23. "buses get in other bus's way" That because of traffic, same as the trains like D and M, 2 and 5, etc. ------------------------------------------------ 24. "they don't pull into bus stops when there are several other buses already there" That because of traffic and delays, same as the trains in the terminals like the 2 and 5 rush hour. ------------------------------------------------ 25. "when they are out of service they take up space in bus stops forcing the in-service buses to stop behind them and making the passengers walk further to their destinations," Your statement doesnt even make sense. Re-write it over. -------------------------------------------- 26. "there's no prominent interior route and destination signs" Umm, no need to on the buses. You walk into the bus you already saw the correct route bus sign on the nose and the side of the bus. There is a chance of misreading on the destination sign and the the bus route, you can ask a Bus operator if you got on the right bus instantly. Unlike the subways when a reroute trains take place, people get confused if its the right or wrong train to take. --------------------------------------------- 27. "need I go on?" Keep going on since buses and trains do have similar drawbacks. BTW, YOU suck. |
