Except for maybe "trained professionals", nobody really knows what goes on in the mind of mentally disturbed people. They do not think like rational humans. So when you mention about the perp not realizing the consequenses, it's quite obvious that never entered his brain. But, don't get me wrong. I am not one of those liberals who want to go easy on this type of person, and sentence them to time in a mental institution where they can have it easy, and then possibly be considered rehabilitated later on. Even if this type of criminal is found to be "insane", I still say lock him up and throw away the key. Because if he had the illness once, he can possibly relapse, and I don't want someone like that back on the streets. |
