There's no evidence to support making such a sweeping statement.

You are quite correct. It is one of the many things that I have been told, and or have studied in books and in classes. What I suggested was a model, and there is no proof for it at all. It is a model aimed at probing one understanding. When you examine a model such as this, it helps you to see one point of view, it may be right or wrong, but it is a construct upon which one may speculate and discuss an issue. Just that and nothing more.

Clearly, homosexuality is not (likely) to be hereditary, for as I said, it would have breed itself out of existance. Yet it is NOT an environmental or even a learned behaviour. Where would somebody LEARN this behaviour, certainly not in the home, probably not in school or other environments, yet I was aware that I was "different" by the time I was in second grade, even though I had no concept whatsoever of human sexuality in any of its dimensions, let alone a concept of homosexuality or hetrosexuality.

The study of paraphilias (homosexuality is NOT a paraphilia) suggests that certain sexual drives (fetishes - the term is used in a less literal sense in this context) are fully mapped into a person's human matrix between the ages of five and eight, long before the awaking of a sexual awareness in most people. Paraphilias are also thought to be a learned or acquired behavior, but are so deeply rooted that these behaviors cannot be changed. Pediphilia is an example of such, one can never expect that such a drive will change, even if they were to abstain from this activity. It takes a strong person to not respont to such urges, this is why there are efforts to keep such sex offenders in custody after their terms. (Most paraphiliacs are NOT sexual offenders... that was just an example. Jeff Dalhmer was another extreme criminal example, and he was killing animals when he was 12.)

Human Sexuality is such an interesting topic, full of psychological issues to be explored, and while this thread did have its origins on topic (a railway advertizing card), sexuality and computers are probably the only other two interests that everybody on this board shares. (Sexuality becaues everybody has one, and computers, because if you don't have one you cannot get in here anyway).
