Did I see said car in the Ave. X boneyard today, or do I need to get a new pair of glasses? If I did see it, how long has it been there?

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

Seriously, last I heard it was sent to Linden. That was nearly a year ago.

Why was it moved there? Just for storage? The NYCSubway entry gives no explanation for it.

If it is, it's with it's fellow mothballed cars.

Yes, it is there, between 5655 and 8289/8290
It was at PS 248, NOT transit tech. Transit Tech still has its R30(8337 IIRC)
I dont beleive it was ever sent to linden, although i might be incorrect there.

It couldn't have been a year ago, because 3005 didn't go to P.S. 248 until the end of July/beginning of August. 6452 has been on the scrap line at Coney Island since then. I don't recall if it went to Linden in between or not, but I don't think it did.

Transit Tech is in ENY and is a high school (J to Norwood). The MTA Training Center is in Bensonhurst and is for employees (D to 25th Ave). They have a car sitting in their "yard" for crews to train evacuation procedures and such. It had an R16 for many years, but that was replaced with an R110B unit last summer.

PS 248 is the the one in Gravesend, just off the BMT West End. I got it.

If you look carefully, that is the same school on the opening credits of "Welcome Back, Kotter".

I cut my skills on the Redbirds and those trainsets are in my heart forever. Propulsion, Undercar, Carbody, Troubles and POWERTEST...I bugged because I wanted to RUN. CI peter

eighty meter AME rest in peace net. AME as in AM equivilant broadcast quality audio....not 'silly sideband' with a pilot carrier.

IIRC Shoreline was offered the R-16 that wound up in Kingston for free and turned it down. They probably figured that one SMEE specimen was enough.

I'd still like to see a sister unit for 1689 wind up there someday. Well, that's my pipe dream, anyway.
