PICS: The (Pittsburgh) T! |
|
Posted by The Flxible Neofan on Sat Sep 4 12:27:47 2010 The T is a nice light rail system. You can see its PCC trolley roots are still strong. Plus, the way the trains go up into the mountains...I wish I had more time to scout out more spots to photofan this system on this last trip to the area. Maybe next time :).Some street running in Beechview: What a funky looking bus ;^): Willow/Overbrook Junction: South Bank: Last but definitely not least, South Hills Junction: Thanks for viewing! I hope you enjoyed them. |

Thanks Fred! :) I wish Port Authority offered a Daypass to make fanning much easier! Thankfully the Zone 1 weekly pass was only 20 dollars, which I used during the time I was in the area.Otherwise, I highly recommend it! |

For a trip that distance I'd stay a couple of days and that would bring the daily rate to about what a day pass is in other cities.your pal, Fred |

Maybe next time :).Thanks for the photos of a non-NYCTA system. Admittedly, I'd like to go once they open the North Shore connector, but Pittsburgh is in a weird category of systems for me. Barely enough to justify spending money on a full blown trip on a hotel, yet too far for any type of daytrip. The only upside is that I can combine it with a roadgeeking trip on the original Pennsylvania Turnpike. |

If anyone is interested in riding and/or photographing the Brown Line (formerly route 52), better get there soon - light rail service is scheduled to be eliminated on this route in January due to PAT's budget crisis. As it is, the cars only operate during rush hours on a 45-minute headway. |

Couldn't make it into the Blue Line's South Hills Village extension instead? Pittsburgh's light rail keeps shrinking . . . no surprise from the agency that brought the demise of Pittsburgh's commuter rail. |
