The first of two main tracks was restored to service early this afternoon. Nobody was injured in yesterday's derailment, which occurred around 2:45 p.m. Seven cars of a Cumberland, Md., to Newport News, Va., coal train derailed and turned onto their sides. CSX spokesman Robert Sullivan said the wreck remains under investigation. Amtrak had to make alternate plans for its Northeast Regional trains, plus Silver Service, Carolinian, Palmetto, and Auto Train today. Virginia Railway Express has canceled all trains on its Fredericksburg line today as well. |
