Actually, what they need to do is re-build the tracks to the unused platform at Atlantic Avenue and set it up so some L trains can terminate there, also allowing for in the future being able to have a Broadway Brooklyn line run to Rockaway Parkway and have the L terminate at Atlantic Avenue, at least during rush hours where it can better service the more intensely traveled portion of the line. |

Except by doing that, you are missing a MAJOR transfer point at Broadway Junction. That is why I would rather have the L short-terminate at Atlantic Avenue as opposed to Myrtle Avenue. You're obviously missing my point. By short turning trains in the AM rush hour at Myrtle Ave, trains start out empty and after eight stops later at Bedford Ave, passengers will be able to board the trains. Right now the trains are packed by the time they reach Bedford Ave, short turning trains at Myrtie Ave should solve this. Spending millions of dollars the MTA doesn't have to reactivate tracks and platform at Atlantic Ave. won't solve this. After Atlantic Ave. that's 13 stops to Bedford Ave. as opposed to 8 stops from Myrtle Ave. Your only response to this is that you agree with me and nothing else. Bill Newkirk |

This is why I NEVER take the L during morning rush. If I absolutely HAVE to, I will board a Canarsie bound train and take it to Lorimer to double back, or get there via the G, because Manhattan-bound L's at Bedford are IMPOSSIBLE to board at between 7:30-9:30am unless you can push yourself to the edge of the platform and position yourself right in front of a door. Not to mention the fact that the entire bike parking lot outside Bedford is filled to capacity by 6:30am. God I hate fucking hipsters. What are they even doing up so early - do they actually go to their day jobs dressed like that??? |

They should reinstate the service where every other train only goes as far as Myrtle and then turns around, allowing at least some passengers from Myrtle to Bedford to get seats.Where've you been? They've been short turning every other L at Myrtle during AM/PM rush ever since they finished the signaling project. The PROBLEM with the L line is that 8 Av is a very ineffective terminal for the level of service they are trying to run. What they really need to do is tunnel another block over, so that trains can enter 8 Av at full speed. L's get backed up as far as Graham Ave sometimes, so that it can actually take 20-30 min to go from Bedford to Union Square because they have to wait at every station, and sometimes under the river, for congestion to clear up, which is the second reason I try to avoid the L whenever possible in the morning. |

I've put up with it for years at Ely Avenue on the E and V/J on the 7.Actually I NEVER seem to have problems boardin the 7 at Court Square. There must be a ton of people who transfer to the N/W at Queensboro Plaza. As for the E/V.....E's are often filled to capacity there, but I can ALWAYS get on the V. People back away from that train as if it's gonna give them AIDS. Ride the V to 53/5 Ave, and wait for the E behind it (which loses about half its capacity when stopping at 53/Lex, as if riders don't seem to realize that the V stops there too!). It'll be interesting to see if riders will actually board the M there..... |

It was at Bedford Ave that I noticed that "something" was happening along the L train back in the 1990's. That station used to be a ghost town when I was a kid. All of a sudden in the late 90's more and more people began getting on there. Gentrification was in swing. |

Okay, that was hilarious.Well, I remember back in the early 2000's, it began on the Broadway El too. I did a double take one day on the J train when a bunch of blond haired blue eyed girls got on the train at the Kosciuszko St station. It was something that didn't happen back then. I didn't realize that gentrification had begun there, but that was the beginning. Now you wouldn't even flinch an eye along Broadway...but in 2001, that was a very rare site. In fact, just about nonexistent. Now it's normalcy. |

They look like they are from another planet.I remember one night a few years ago I was riding the #3 to Atlantic (WHere most of us whities get off) adn this blond bed head type asked me if the train went to Utica? I said yes. He told us he was going to stay at the new Howard Johnson's On Utica near E NY Avenue. I laughed and said good luck. LOL. |

The crazy thing is, the same thing happened in Bushwick. I remember when it was announced in the early 2000's that a hotel was bing built upstairs at the Halsey St station on Wyckoff Ave. There was a whole thread about it here, and how hilarious that was. It's not "funny" anymore....as the neighborhood wave of gentrification has slowly trickled there and caught up with it. They did their market research. |

What they really should do that wouldn't even cost that much is just tie in the other end of the spur track on the 6th Ave. end, so that trains could drop out at 6th Ave, and head back without having to go to 8th Ave. at all. Trains are usually stuck waiting at 6th anyway, so that time could be used to clean them out.You couls specify a ‹L› service that only runs from Myrtle to 6th. I sent in the suggestion, and they rejected it based on not wanting to add platform conductors! I also sent in an idea to add a dropoff platform to track 3 at Canarsie, which is the first yard track. The platform would lead right out to where the B42 is. There is space where the fense between 2 and 3 is. They would only have to upgrade the signals to mainline standards. They rejected this too. I also think the Myrtle dropouts might be better suited at Bway Jct, because there are a lot of people going the other way transferring to the A,C,J; and instead of having to clean it out and relay, you just close down, open the other side, and go back out from that same track, over the switch. |

After that super ghetto alley I had to walk down, I went into the station house, where every single person on the platform was white (including a TSS who was hanging out there for some reason). Small pocket of Middle Village?Fresh Pond, Forest, Seneca, and North of Wyckoff was abotu 100% white until the early 90's. In the early 90's, some Hispanics moved in, but by the 2000's, Polish began to take over. There's a small pocket of Chinese near Seneca, but it's so small it's barely noticable. There's few Blacks north of Wyckoff, even today. I don't know what you are talking about, as "once upon a time you never saw a white person on a BMT East line, is utterly false". Again, the M north of Wyckoff was always, and still is mostly white, and that always fed the L line. |
