Regional Transit Light Rail has two lines: Gold & Blue. The Gold Line starts at Sacramento Valley Station where it connects with Amtrak through Downtown and towards Folsom. The Blue line Starts in North Sacramento, heads through Downtown and ends in South Sacramento. The fleet consists of Siemens Duewags & CAF cars numbered in the 100 & 200 series.

Seeing is not believing. CAF car #226 leads a four car pack at 8th & O Station. The train is so long, boarding happens out of the operator’s sight and around the corner:

During off peak hours, Trains are two cars long. Pictured at Watts/I-80 Station is Siemens Duewag #119 while the operator switches ends:

Great job as always. I had occasion to go to Sacramento on business a couple of times in late 1994. First time, I stayed overnight, so I was able to take a brief ride on RT Metro (only a couple of stops in the downtown area). My business was at a building at 12th & J St, so the trains passed right outside the building! What's cool about the 12th street segment, is that much of the time, the southbound track is bonafide street running, i.e. it is a regular traffic lane with cars, trucks, etc. sharing the way with the LRVs. The traffic even whizzes by one of the stations. I had occasion to drive on 12th St, alas, there wasn't a train around, woulda been cool to drive right behind one, a la San Francisco. Back then, it was only the Siemens cars (U2As, or are they U3s and the Pittsburgh cars U2As? I always get them confused), and the one line (now the Blue Line I guess), between Butterfield and Watt/I-80.

man oh man. imagine those 4 car trains zipping up and down first and second avenues! or over the Williamsburg bridge and under the broadway el out to broadway junction...that would be sweet.

amazing how low density the area seems to be out there.

A 4-car train on 1st or 2nd ave would be a traffic nightmare since they couldn't fit between lights and would block traffic.
