Asians find the term "yellow line" offensive |

Next thing you know is that they will declare the color yellow itself to be offensive. All yellow paint will be banned and the color will have to be eliminated from all pallettes.UNBELIEVABLE! |

Wow, oops MARTA - wrong line to make yellow, lol. Well, fortunately it's a change easily remedied. Just call it Gold and be done with it - don't even need to change much with the maps.Believe it or not, black people aren't the only ones offended by alleged "racism". Gotta be careful nowadays and keep all heritages/races/ethnic backgrounds in mind. |

From a previous message: "Or how about N Q R W trains running at Canal Street Station..."Basically the colors for the various train routes in the current NYC subway system was derived from the dominant express route as listed on the subway maps of the early 1970's. The lines listed above are yellow because the N train was yellow on those subway maps. At that time, the R train (called RR then) was green, and the Q (then called the QB) was red. The W line did not exist then, but the EE train did, and that was orange. At that time, several lines shared a color, for example both the N-train and the #6 train were yellow. The routes that traveled along the Lexington Avenue line, the Nassau Street line, and the #7 Flushing line were given a different route color, since their previous major express color was used by the other lines. There were some question on certain lines which express route was the "major route". Just a note. Mike |

As far as paints and pigments go, yellow is a primary color. When talking about light, yellow is a mixture of red and green. I remember a 1980's(?) TV ad campaign for Ziploc storage bags, with a new feature to help identify when a bag was sealed. One band was colored yellow, the other blue. The catch phrase was usually spoken by a child, saying, "Yellow and blue makes green! It's sealed!" |

The trains in Ireland were orange and black, with minor variations, from the 1960s to the 2000s. Nobody got all crazy about "Orangemen" during all that time. Now almost all the trains are some shade of green. Not like they got more offended during the 2000s suddenly. |
