Lol Well from one of the signs on the Arnines proves there was/could've been a 76th Street station. I just love how it has become a search like if there was life on Mars or so :-) |

The signs, cuz when a TA worker lifted the cover the few of us standing at the front saw 76th labeled - it didn't seem fake since it was part of the rollsign and nope I saw it w/my own 2 eyes well b4 ppl started to photoshop that image.- the original Grand Concourse from RD and SubTalk |

The walls at Grand Street (B,D) conceal additional trackways for the SAS behind them. While it's highly unlikely, you can't prove that there aren't... The SIRT South Beach Branch was abandoned to build the Verrazano Bridge. OK, that's ridiculous. Who the heck cane up with that one? The 63rd Street tunnel was not originally intended to connect to the QB line Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was. BMT numbers were popularly used outside the Sea Beach and Brighton Line Define "popularly". If you mean by majority, then I don't have enough info to say. But BMT numbers were used quite often on lines besides the #1 and #4. I've seen quite a few photos of #2, #7, #10, #13, #14, and #15 trains. #3-only seen that on the R-11. #5-only seen that on a fantrip. #6-never seen that. #8-only seen that once. #9-never seen that. #11-don't even know what that is. #12-dunno what that is either. #13-only seen that twice, once of which was a fantrip. #16-only seen that once or twice. The R-68 is slow They probably aren't. It seems like they are, since they're mostly used on slow lines, and their 75' length makes them sound slower. R-68s can get up to decent speeds in the 6th Ave dash, passing 9th St n/b, and approaching Newkirk Av n/b. It would have been significantly cheaper to reuse the Rockaway ROW than build the Van Wyck El Of course not. But it would be cheaper to do that than to build a new tunnel under the East River. NIMBYs are always bad, no matter what the situation, no matter what the reason, no matter what is being opposed. I suppose some NIMBYs are good. A sewage treatment plant doesn't belong in a residential neighborhood. A 42nd Street light rail makes sense Probably wouldn't. The lower level of 42/8 was built solely for the purpose of blocking a westward extension of the 7. Why the hell else would they have built it? And Last but the opposite of least: 76th Street Station exists I'm beginning to believe that it probably doesn't. |

NIMBYs are always bad, no matter what the situation, no matter what the reason, no matter what is being opposed.I suppose some NIMBYs are good. A sewage treatment plant doesn't belong in a residential neighborhood. Actually, the NIMBY's or YIMBY's saved the Franklin Shuttle, and converted it from the Franklin Shittle, They saved some LIRR stations like Glen Street and Bellport, They saved the Intervale Ave station, They even kept the M running in Southern Brooklyn, and the list goes on. Sometimes "NIMBY's" are YIMBY's, and they actually are good for transportation. |

Yes, then you are agreeing with me that the current connection was planned from the beginning. I never said that it was always the ONLY one planned. 4)False...Route NAMES WERE USED Um, are you sure you get my post? 7)Not really...If not for NIMBYS...my Grandfather would've lost his house to the Bushwick Expressway... Exactly what I'm saying. 8)ALL LRT makes sense..[whats wrong with you?] No, it doesn't. A 42nd Street LRT would be no faster than an M42 bus. If they want to have electric vehicles, they can use ETB, which is capable of changing lanes. |

Here's an extra one: The MTA makes a profit on its transit operations, has lots of money stashed away, and raises fares and cuts services out of pure incompetence or perversity. |

While it's highly unlikely, you can't prove that there aren't...Yes I can, and there aren't. If there were, you would see reference to them in the SAS EIS. Define "popularly". If you mean by majority, then I don't have enough info to say. But BMT numbers were used quite often on lines besides the #1 and #4. I've seen quite a few photos of #2, #7, #10, #13, #14, and #15 trains. By popularly, I mean that people referred to the train by that number in common usage and everyone understood what it meant. If you've seen photos of trains signed up that way, that doesn't mean that they were regularly signed up that way and people came to know the trains by their number. They probably aren't. It seems like they are, since they're mostly used on slow lines, and their 75' length makes them sound slower. R-68s can get up to decent speeds in the 6th Ave dash, passing 9th St n/b, and approaching Newkirk Av n/b. What makes them sound slower is that they're better-insulated and provide for a smoother ride. A smoother, quieter ride just FEELS slower. Why the hell else would they have built it? Beats me, but for various reasons it is illogical to assume that the IND would have built a station to block the 7, since the IND cut through an abandoned, never used tunnel of the IRT in Brooklyn (the approach to lower level Nevins). |
