The model board in the IND Roosevelt Av tower has spare levers for the connection to the upper level and if you look carefully, the associated signals and switches can be seen under the black paint that covers them. painted over. The diamond crossover N/O Rockaway Av that was used to turn A trains until 1945 and was controlled from Utica Tower along with its associated signals can also be seen under the paint along with the spare levers on the machine itself. |

The daily Aqueduct specials were actually supplied from the F service and any available post rush hour put ins from Jamaica Yd from either service. There were 2 F trains that terminated at 2 Av and ran light to Qns Plz where that were turned and ran light back to 42/8 LL where they became the first 2 and last 2 Aqueduct specials. When the first 2 specials arrived at Aqueduct and discharged passengers, they relayed to F4 tk S/O the station and ran light back to Qns Plz were the y turned for a second time and became the last 2 Aqueduct specials. On Saturdays, the specials were straight put ins from J Yd but as was the case daily, the first 2 specials returned to Qns Plz for a second trip. |

Never used on a regular basis. Just a private connection built for August Belmontand his private subway car the Minola. Can you please furnish proff or is that another railfan fantasy ? Nobody has seen a photo of a track in the trackway leading to the LIRR terminal. Until a photo surfaces to prove us wrong, then it's just another fantasy, rumor, call it what you will. Bill Newkirk |

But it's no use.Art Huneke and Vincent Siegfried are the two most knowledgeable LIRR historians that I know of. Maybe there's a third I'm not aware of. If Art and Vince say no photos exist and the connection was never made, then it's gospel as far as I can see. Bill Newkirk |

Nobody has seen a photo of a track in the trackway leading to the LIRR terminal. There is a photo floating around showing 76 Street. How many people won't beliwve that? The private connection at Atlantic Ave likely lasted only from 1908 to 1924 when August Belmont died. |
