Good catch. Here's the service advisory from the website:Some Utica Av-bound trains run express from Mosholu Pkwy to 125 St AM Rush Hour, 7 AM to 8 AM, Mon to Fri, Jun 8 - 26 Please allow additional travel time at skipped stations. |

As I recall the Jerome line, there isn't a crossover to the center at Mosholu southbound to M track, so they'll have to do that just before Bedford unless they've added a switch at Mosholu for this. Northbound there is one from M to the northbound right before Mosholu.Gee ... maybe they'll bring back the BWAY THRU EXP! :) |

Should be interesting to see how this express plan will work out. I'm surprised they've decided to also skip Bedford Park Blvd, given how many buses stop there. They could use the crossover north of Kingsbridge Road. |

The problem I see happening is if this becomes a full time service , the 4 express will be virtually empty north of Burnside. Unless people at BPB and Kingsbridge take the uptown to Mosholu |

Yea buses stop there but does BPB have suffice ridership to warrant inclusion in this skip-stopping?? And I'm surprised they didn't try this sooner--- Burnside has always been M track capable and not like the M track just magically got put in. I still miss the 9 which could have benefitted from M track capability IMHO. |

Don't forget, the entire IRT is now under the Line Manager program, where they have absolute control and can do experimental things like this and see how it works out.Of course, sane people will say that the trains will be dead empty entering Manhattan. BUT, for people taking the Bee-Line down from Westchester County, this will make their commutes faster, AND it'll make a few trains emptier entering Manhattan, which could help with some of the crowding at 125 Street and 86 Street. |

Yeah I've seen that before--just couldn't find it this morning for some reason. So anyway, the southbound crossover from local to express is south of Bedford Pk Blvd making it an ok stop. Going northbound, if they ever put in express service in that direction, I'd say all trains should just be local north of Burnside. |

Back when the Bway Thru Exp operated, the markers were red/red for a regular Bway Exp and red/yellow for the Bway Thru Exp. Before the mid 1970s IRT and all divisions' markers were different from what they were towards the end of marker usage. After 1959 when the so called Bway "Local Exp" was operated the markers were: V/C -S/F local both directions R/R, "Local Exp" Y/R, Dyckman- S/F both directions G/R and 137 - S/F both directions W/R. The "local Exp" service operated S/B in the AM rush only and initially skipped 191, 181, 157 and 145 Sts. Not too long after the initial service patter, the service was changed so that the Lcl Exps skipped 215, 207, 157 and 145 sts and stopped at 191 and 181 St due to the presence of Geo Washington H S at 191 and the large number of buses from the Bronx dropping off their passengers at 181 St. In the mid 1970s, the marker light system was completely revamped so that all trains bound for a particular destination displayed the same markers regardless of their point of origin. |
