Just to let you know that yesterday afternoon (Monday 2/16/2009) that I visited the Broadway station of the IND "G" Line, and the misspelled "Brodaway" tile sign is no more. It seems that MTA NYC Transit did have it now corrected by using a thermal tile marking device by covering the squares in black (I did see the original lettered outline underneath), then place each a white "A" and "D" over it, but with a slightly bolder font, in what is now in their proper setting.-William A. There's still a lot of subway anachronisms out there, such as Van Wyck Boulevard (a street that hasn't existed for over a half-century) and 23rd Street-Ely Avenue (ditto). True, this little gem was irreplaceable; its a testament to people's self-absorption that it only took 73 years for someone to notice it! |

What about the 80 years to find Washington's misquote on the Courthouse. The "true justice" instesd of the "due justice." They're leaving that one because there is no money to fix it. I guess the MTA was able to find the money. (They could have used the same excuse.) |

Then there's Willets Point Blvd.Willets Point Boulevard isn't wrong; there is a piece of Willets Point Boulevard near the station. What's wrong is that they dropped "Boulevard" from the station name and just call it "Willets Point," which is Fort Totten, five miles away at the other end of Willets Point Boulevard. |

They got outted in the Daily News and had no choice but to repair it because if they didn't they would have gotten dressed down again for not correcting the problem. |

One thing that struck me as odd was the labeling of 75th Ave. On maps, it was labeled as 75th-Puritan Ave., but the station itself simply says, 75th Ave. Was it actually called Puritan Ave. in the olden days? |

Once upon a time there used to be a subway entrance at Willets Point Blvd. If you look at the end of the long Manhattan Bound platform you can see what's left of the old station. In the late 1930's the station was rebuilt for the 1939-40 World's Fair and the entrance was moved to its current location. |
