I'm sure everyone remembers the August 11/12th weekend after the major flood in 2007 when THISappeared on the (G). Well, the day after, an R32 came on the (G) as well. Nice photos! Always awesome to catch one of those; I'm surprised they didn't use a rollsign for simply (G) Crosstown Local, though instead of adding Queens Blvd. |

Nice catch!! I remember actually working a train of R-32s on the G. That day was weird because there was a G.O. in effect, and get this.....there was a four car set of R-68s (ANF) on the G as well, straight up from Coney Island, and yeah who was lucky enough to get a round trip on those to Church Avenue (that day, around the summer of 2001, the G was extended to Church Avenue via the Prospect Park express tracks, express from Smith-9th to Church)....ye, little ol' ME!! :-DNice day indeed, because of the total oddities I saw there (sadly I did not have a camera at the time), AA/AA R-46 consist, AA/BA R-46 consist, the 10-car R-32s in one trainset of 10 cars (5 pairs), and the one 4-car R-68 consist. |

Good catch!! You should have been around in 2001 in that nice G.O. where my mentioned set of oddities appeared on the G. Here it goes again....1 AA/AA R-46 1 AA/BA R-46 1 4-car set of R-68s borrowed from the Franklin Avenue Shuttle (how I knew this, some of the roll signs were stuck in the Franklin Avenue Shuttle "S" position at the non-operating ends between the second and third cars) 1 10-car R-32 consist straight outta Jamaica Yard, to which at about 4pm, they were laid up back at Jamaica Yard that day.....a good buddy of mine did the honors!! Would have been cool to add to the oddities of the G a set of R-42s!! :-D |

I remember them quite well from before 63st... pretty much whenever there wasn't enough 6 car R46s, they preferred to send in an R32 rather than an 8xR46. |

Question about the rollsign fonts: Which are the older variation, the ones with the big letters or the ones with the little letters? The former always bugged me on the E's R32's......they looked too "loud" and "messy". =) |

There is only one rollsign designation for the G. Even if there was more than one, the t/o will put up the first one he comes to since the t/o has to change 20 route signs, plus as many as 40 destination signs all by himself as c/r's usually do not go on put-ins. This is very time consuming. Some SubChatters think sign changing is fun time but it is not if you are racing the clock to get a train ready for service. There is a lot to do. |

True, but they're all inferior to the original rollsigns on those trains, even though I only know of them through photos. Large, classy and most importantly, legible. Green back lights also helped. The small letters are neat, but you can barely read them, especially on the interior. |

Saw it yesterday afternoon around 2:00 Queens-bound at Hoyt-Scherm. But I passed on riding it because my priority for the day was getting a Slant to B116. Fortunately, it was fulfilled. |
