Posted by The Port of Authority on Wed Sep 3 17:21:51 2008, in response to Re: Los Angeles Green Line, posted by WillD on Wed Sep 3 17:16:18 2008. Actually, it's a Nippon Sharyo P2020. 14 P2020s, identical to the earlier P850s, were delivered in 1994 for the opening of the Metro Green Line. In 2000, the P2020s were transferred to the Metro Blue Line and replaced with new Siemens P2000s.The P2020s continue to operate on the Metro Blue Line today. The only difference between them and the P850s is a "NIPPON SHARYO-1994" P2020 builder's plaque instead of a "NIPPON SHARYO-1989 or 1990" one. |

I think, but am not certain (maybe you can check sometime since you seem to have an eye for detail) that the P2020 seats have fewer of those access boxes/panels under the seats that are always a PITA. |

This is correct, but applies, as you stated, only to cars 100-153. The cars I'm referring to are almost identical; their fleet numbers are 154-168. Not that it's really a big deal (except to you), but why are you so stubborn? How about you contact Nippon-Sharyo? |

Posted by Joe Saitta on Wed Sep 3 21:44:45 2008, in response to Re: Los Angeles Green Line, posted by Joe Saitta on Wed Sep 3 21:35:20 2008. Right from the Metro Green Line page....Read.... Fleet: P2020 Sumitomo cars: 15 (154-168 series) P2000 Siemens cars: 36 from a standardized fleet of 52 (from 201-250 series, built 1995-1999) Dimensions: The 15 Sumitomo cars are dimensionally identical to the 54-car Blue Line fleet. The cars were delivered in 1994-1995. Due to the small order and short order-to-delivery time, the cars cost about $3 million each. The 52 Siemens cars will be compatible and interchangeable with the Sumitomo cars. The bodies of the cars will feature a streamlined, aerodynamic design with AC propulsion. The Green Line will share the 52 cars with the Blue Line Pasadena route, as well as the Long Beach Blue Line, and other future light rail lines. The cars cost about $2 million each and began delivery in early 1998. Speed: 55 mph max allowable; to be increased to 65 mph in 2000. |

The shop manuals may be the same since the cars are almost identical. And these cars were built about a decade and a half ago. How many people are still working at LACMTA that were there when the 154-168 cars arrived? Did you contact Nippon-Sharyo like I suggested? If you're too lazy to do this, then I might. I'll bet not too many. Also, I find it very hard to believe someone who can't write complete sentences, doesn't know how to capitalize, spell or punctuate. You're a good photographer but lacking, in my opinion, in the way you research your answers, and, if wrong, unwilling to accept correction or an admission of fault. |
