When the Chrystie St Connection was built, the diamond crossover on the south side of Broadway-Lafayette connecting local & express tracks was removed to make way for the express tracks curving onto Chrystie St.D Trains running south on the 8th Ave Local cross over to the 6th Ave local after West 4th St, but because there is no crossover they can't access the Manhattan Bridge to resume their normal route. Thus, the terminating of the north section at 2nd Ave. |
