The people of Lupolovo, Mahilyowskaya Voblasts really do take rail-fanning to extremes, by making a religion out of it.That may not be an "Orthodox" church, but they say God moves in mysterious ways, or in this case on concrete blocks. |

I was in Salt Lake back in December, and I was encouraged by what I saw. The Sandy line has enough ridership to run four-car consists. The streets are wide enough that this never seems to impede traffic. (The story I hear is that the planners wanted the streets to be wide enough to easily make a U-turn with an ox team.) Most encouraging was that the local newspaper was filled with editorials and letters in support of system expansion.I also got to see the trains for the upcoming Front Runner commuter rail service. |
