This begs the question: What will Rawson Interlocking (and the new Fisk-74th Street interlocking areas) look like once these construction projects are complete? I ask because I've seen a home signal installed a foot or two beyond existing switch points and other new signal installations that are already in place, and it causes me to wonder concerning this thing.

Wait, so they are inserting another x switch for just the 7 so that it can terminte at QBP?
Also are they ever going to add an x switch for the lower level b/w the 7 and N?*
Hypothetically speaking.*

I don't know. The really stupid part is, they could have just installed a single switch from Track M to the Manhattan-bound track and achieved all of the same moves.

during regular service if a train is to be taken out of service that is heading towards manhattan, for the train to stay at any position for a length of time will cause service to be backed up
put the train between woodside and qbr plaza will disrupt express service
this turnback track will allow the train to be turned back to the yard without causing a delay to either express or local track
if sent to t sq, they couldn't use the tracks beyond the station because those tracks onl;y hold 9 cars

So then I can board the 7 train, it can run express for me all the way to 74th, and I can get off at 74th. In other words, my very own custom train route.

That was back around 1949 when the BMT and IRT shared both the Flushing and Astoria Lines. The present BMT tracks at Qbro Plz were riginally lined up with the 2 Av El tracks over the Qbro Brge. The existing xover on the upper level was used to route the appropriate IRT trains to either Astoria or Flushing from the Steinway tubes or the 2 Av El. Actually, since the original platforms were shorter, the lower level diamond Xover was at what is now the south end of the S/B platform. The Xover had to be removed when the BMT was routed onto the former 2 Av El tracks and the platforms lengthened accordingly. Platform extensions, however did not interfere with the upper level Xover and that one was retained. The different grades for the approach to Qbro Plz lower prevented the lower level platform from being extended north or the moving of the diamond Xover to N/O the station.

The MTA wanted to be able have PM N/B express service stop at 74 St during Mets games or other events at either Shea or Ashe Stadium. The expresses would cross to the lcl tk S/O 74 St and back to the exp tk N/O the station. This would also allow for returning extra trains from Willets Pt to run exp to 74 St, drop off transferring passengers and then return exp to Qbro Plz for those sports fans who require service to uptown Manhattan or the Bronx.

No. Main St bound expresses would cross to the local track S/O 74 St, make the stop and then cross back to the express track N/O the station. Returning express servce would be able to cross to the local track N/O 74 st, make the stop and cross back to the express tk S/O the station and continue to T/Sq.
