Nice try, but nope. That's the text of a (most of) Jewish blessing of celebration that's recited for a new or seasonal event. I think, in theory, it's recited when one runs into somebody he hasn't seen in a long time (so it would be fitting here), although I don't know of anybody who does that in practice. Here's a translation. Your name means "time" (or "moment" in this translation). |

An R-160 with Siemens propulsion. Kawasaki built 10 so far for testing - they have to go through many, but not all of acceptance tests. |

So is this a direct follow up to the famouse Siemens R-143? Or is it an unrelated project? And are these 10 and/or any future Siemens powered R-160 cars part of the 260 car base R-160B order or part of an option order or neither or both? |

Another question: Irrespective of what Train Dude wrote, is the 30-day revenue test one of the acceptance tests this set will have to go through? |

There's only one trainset as of now, so nothing's gonna change. When the R160's start arriving en masse, I'd expect them to replace slants, which will get x-ferred to the scrapheap (just my speculation). |

This all reminds me of when I was a bus operator. You almost always would have someone come up and complain that the bus is too hot or cold. To make them happy I would shut off the climate control and in a few minutes someone would come up and ask for me to put the system back on because it was too cold or hot.In my house I have central air and heat and my wife and I argue about the same thing. Sometimes I'm very hot so I blast the A/c, she then complains its too cold. In the winter I'm warm or comfortable and she's complains for me to raise the heat up. Maybe everyone is different metabolicly and it all depends on the time of day and clothing etc. I have never ridden a r-142 so I can't say. But I remember a manager in RTO telling me that as time goes on NYC transit makes subway cars less and less comfortable to discourage homeless folks from getting comfortable. So its less heat, less A/C, uncomfortable seats, etc. |

Yes, different people have different preferences. In my classroom, my approach is to try to keep it on the cool side, for several reasons: (1) I happen to prefer it that way; (2) students are less likely to fall asleep if it's cool; and (3) if it's too cool for your taste, you can always put on a sweater, but if it's too warm for your taste, there's only so much you can take off. Unfortunately, the wall unit in the room puts out either air conditioning or heat, and which one it puts out is not under my control, so for the past few weeks I've had to settle for leaving the wall unit off and opening the window, which doesn't accomplish much given the room's size and crowd. But speaking of buses, why are the O7's so warm? (In the summer they're very cool, but I like it that way.) |
