Well ... at least I got "mentioned" in the readme.txt which came with the BVE "r9 train" for the work I did on it for nearly a year before it got incorporated into the animated R9 stands you see in that train. Wish I knew the REAL name of the person who also did the R68 and I *believe* the 143 as well. I did the train math, the sounds and much of the rest of the math for the arnine set for BVE. And while my "math" was off the spcifications, so is BVE in its handling of MPH as opposed to KPH. The accel and braking curves that I'd originally programmed were correct, but the final release of what I'd started was definitely what railfans expected. And I have no complaints about being a wee bit shunted aside in the arnine BVE car - hell ... I never finished it though I enjoyed it myself, but the final curve ain't quite right as far as "eyeballing" an arnine as a motorman. Math, well ... perfect. But arnines were more like what I'd written in "real life."

But GEEZ ... I *worked* 32's ... *before* GOH ... that R68 cab thingy that "Yee" did? Worked fine for 32's as well as long as they had more get-up-and-go when they had their teat pulled than 68's ... but otherwise the "handle action" if "animated" is what folks think they need ... for REAL motorpeople, it's OUT the cab window that matters.

Kinda got a kick outta Mackoy doing away with the "marker cheat-o-meter" from the earlier versions and all of the other things he's taken away for "realism." REAL motorpeople counted "pillars per second" to know their actual "land speed" and with the pre-war cars, you had *MUSIC* to tell you "how you were doing" as old Ed Kroch usedta say. :)

But seriously ... wanna do a 32? GIVE it more balls (like the 70's) and lose the arnine stands ... I *LOVE* the animation the author gave the arnines and all, but the BRAKE positions are all WRONG. To apply, handle PARALLEL to the rail to feed, back off to LAP ... way the arnines for BVE got built, NFG for handle positions for what ya get.

The crudely-drawn handles for the original BVE R68 though are REALLY a great start for "animated SMEE" ... perhaps some better photoshopped photos of REAL controls made into BMP's ... the PIX are out there, and the cut and paste tasty with THICK sauce ... but the arnine stuff ... well ... as one of two people behind that all, kinda sacriligious. Heh.

You've never seen the website before? It's so cool! I love driving their routes just as much as I do driving the NYC routes. The Network West Midlands Route with the large variety of runs is amazing! All of these trains require BVE 4.1 though because it allows for the use of DLLs that add to the realism of driving the train..like the AWS system or when driving over a 4th Rail Gap on the Northern Line and the power cuts off for a brief second, or when you go in the tunnels and the train gets darker..

The London Underground uses a 4-rail system where both the conductor rails are live relative to the running rails (the rails used by the train's wheels) though the positive rail has twice the voltage of the negative rail. On the London Underground a top-contact third rail is placed beside the track, energised at +420 V DC, and a top-contact fourth rail is located centrally between the running rails at -210 V DC, which combine to provide a traction voltage of 630 V DC. Arcs like this are quite normal and occur when the electric power collection "shoes" of a train that is motoring (ie: drawing power) reach the end of a section of electric power rail.
