Black river & Western is running 1930 Brill gasoline-mechanical M-55 model motor car Delaware Turtle on some of their regular tourist line trips between Ringoes and Flemington, NJ.

Just two questions:

M-55 looks something like that ex-Sperry Rail gas job they have up there at Trolley Museum of New York. Any relation ?

Is that PRR doodle bug the last of it's kind ?

I love the front end view of the turtle...you see the grill and hood and a muffler and tail pipe out the bottom. It's part truck pat train.

Bob, does the operator shift gears? I seem to see shifter levers.

It has two transmissions. The original mechanical transmission is very balky, so it is always left in the same gear. The original engine was replaced by a Chevy V-8 and automatic transmission, so the operator selects forward or reverse with the Power Glide and leaves the original mechanical transmission alone.
