Posted by chuchubob on Sun Sep 24 14:02:02 2006 Black river & Western is running 1930 Brill gasoline-mechanical M-55 model motor car Delaware Turtle on some of their regular tourist line trips between Ringoes and Flemington, NJ.photos from Saturday Sept 23 Ringoes       former Jersey Central Flemington station; now Unity Bank   BR&W's other train, also at Flemington, at the BR&W station   Brill Doodlebug: privately owned and deteriorating on BR&W property at Ringoes

I love the front end view of the turtle...you see the grill and hood and a muffler and tail pipe out the bottom. It's part truck pat train.Bob, does the operator shift gears? I seem to see shifter levers. |

The original mechanical transmission is very balky, so it is always left in the same gear. The original engine was replaced by a Chevy V-8 and automatic transmission, so the operator selects forward or reverse with the Power Glide and leaves the original mechanical transmission alone. |
