Photos: Metro North in the Early 90's |
|
Posted by GP38/R42 Chris on Mon Apr 17 21:22:45 2006 Here’s some Metro North Images I found that I took in the early 90’s. I went through them after that F10 thread, and figured I'd scan a few (I have to do more when I have time one day). The first one caught me off guard, that was what the lower level of Grand Central looked like until the late 90’s! It was a desolate wasteland. They really transformed it by making it a “food court”. It’s hard to believe it’s the same place! I forgot I even had this photo: Here's a SPV from when I took a tour of Croton Harmon shops back then: Here's some random FL9 and F10 photos in Grand Central from the early 90's. I have many more, but scanned some random ones: Here's 420 in Croton Harmon Shops: Here's B23-7 803 at Croton Harmon: |

Thanks, that's actually the photo that made me even bother to pull the scanner out this evening, as when I saw it, I knew everyone would enjoy it here. |

F7's to lots they're were the unknown, but I've seen them in video, so that I can remember. Yes, the FL9's such as 2006, 2033, and the F10's good memories in GCT. I remember the F10's with the Shoreliner 3 (center-door consists) coming in, and FL9/F10 combo doing the push-pull thing. I'll miss that. |

It brought back memories of when I was commuting into the city each day on the Hudson line from 1990-1997 (when I started driving in due to my work schedule). I've ridden behind most of those FL9 locomotives/rebuilds. Thanks for posting them. |

I wasn't even aware that there was an era before the food court. That "era" was most of it's life! "Back in the day", the upper level concourse was for the NYCentral's long distance trains, and the lower level concourse was for it's commuter trains. All the old ticket booths are still there, although now they are food counters! |
