I loved the R110A, for those seats. Too they were impractical to carry over to the R142.

I loved the R110A, for those seats. Too bad they were impractical to carry over to the R142.

Yea you be thier do it for 1 day. The hours are 7AM to 3PM. However don't do what I did and play Disorderly Customer. I was with a group of people that knew I was joking. You be with a group that don't know you as well.

I never rode either type of R-110, but that seat contour looks a lot more comfortable than the one that was ultimately adopted. I like the color, too. (And color variety is a good thing.)

It was just as uncomfortable, might even have been more so but it's been a while since I've ridden the R-110A.

Wouldn't the same reasons they don't use them on the Franklin Shuttle apply? (keeping parts for a an oddball set of cars)

I hated the seats on the R110A, although the forward/bakcwards facing ones were interesting on an IRT line.

The R-30 Redbirds were removed from the fire school and replaced by the R-110B cars on 7/3/2004.

If these cars, R110B were the prototype for the R143/160, what was retained from the prototype. The length has been downsized from 67 Ft. to 60 Ft., the seating arraingement is different. The destination signs are different.
What major components have changed or remained the same.
Brakes? Propulsion? Couplers? Compressors?
I'm out over my head here. Could someone with knowledge of both types, R/110B and R/143-R/160 point out the similarities and differences. If the differences are so great, how were those components tested that made it to the production models?

if there is one thing the R143/R160 retained,it's the black
front panel.that way the sun won't the T/O's vision.
