Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Wed Apr 16 07:29:50 2025 Tuscarora Almanac for April 16 1963 – from The Book of Wrecks Seven BMT Standards were damaged by fire while sitting on the center track (Q 3/4) east of Myrtle Avenue Station on the 14th Street Line. The cars involved were 2437, 2447-2639-2446, 2681, 2688 and 2693. Source: New York Division Bulletin /June 1963 1964 – from The Book of Wrecks A fire caused by a short circuit on the IRT 7th Avenue Line badly damages R-12 5801 which was laid up on the center track north of 34th Street. 1973 – from The Book of First Runs The M-2 Electric MU's begin service on the New Haven Line. The first train left Stamford at 8:30 AM. The consist was (s) 8405-04, 8505-04, and 8403-02. Larry, RedbirdR33 |

And for the Book of Last Runs:1936: Service on South Bend's St. Mary's streetcar line was discontinued. It marked the beginning of the end of streetcar operation in my birthplace over the next four years. |

That line shared trackage with an inter urban line to Niles. Service on all interurban lines to South Bend and Mishawaka, except for the South Shore, ended in 1934. |

I wonder what caused the fire on the L line east of Myrtle Ave?Someone flip a cigarette from a passing train? Maybe flip a cigarette that fell through a street grating? |
