Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Sat Dec 21 07:15:45 2024 Tuscarora Almanac for December 21 1932 – from The Book of First Runs Service begins on the Ridge Avenue Subway in Philadelphia, PA. 1946 – from The Book of Last Runs This is the last day of trolley car service in Hershey, Pennsylvania . 1953 – from The Book of First Runs A loop track is placed in service just west of Franklin Avenue Station on the Newark City Subway. And on this date in 1968, Apollo 8 lifted off from what was then known as Cape Kennedy, and circled the moon on Christmas Eve. We were on our way to the city via bus, and the driver had a radio tuned to the broadcast of the liftoff. Once we got to PABT, it was off to Brooklyn via IND and Lonesome Larry. The BMT standards were still holding down the fort, but the R-7/9s were coming. |
