Service is discontinued on the last two streetcar lines in Brooklyn. The last car on the McDonald Avenue line was PCC 1042. It arrived at the 9th Avenue Depot at 5:20 AM. The last car on the Church Avenue line was PCC 1039. It arrived at the depot at 5:52 AM.

Ed. Note: Trolley service on the Queensborough Bridge would continue until April 1957. This would be the last light rail line in New York State until 1984 when streetcars returned to Buffalo.

This is the last day of operations for the Lehigh and New England Railroad, a bridge line that ran from Campbell Hall, New York to Nesque Honing, Pennsylvania. Although the railroad was still profitable its revenues were declining and its parent company, the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company decided to end operations before the railroad descended into bankruptcy.

2014 – from The Book of Last Runs

Seastreak discontinues service on the Rockaway Ferry. The last run was made by the M.V. ATHENA which was on loan from the Block Island Ferry. She arrived at Beach 108th Street at about 8:45 PM. Service had begun two years earlier in response to the damage to the subway line caused by Hurricane Sandy. The boats ran between Beach 108th Street and Pier 11 in Manhattan with a stop at the Brooklyn Army Terminal.
Ferry service to the Rockaways resumed on May 1, 2017 when NYC Ferry began operations.
