Tuscarora Almanac for October 22 |

Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Tue Oct 22 10:22:42 2024 Tuscarora Almanac for October 22 2013 – from The Book of Last Runs The last R-27 on the New York City Transit System, No 8145 departed from the 207th Street Yard today atop a flatbed trailer bound for the scrapper’s torch. This was one of a group of 230 cars built by the St Louis Car Division of General Steel Industries in 1960 and 1961. They lasted in service until 1989. 8145 later served as a Field Office in the 36th Street Yard and as a School Car in the Pitkin Yard. Thank to Mysterious Friday 1986 for this information. Sadly, she and her husband have since divorced. That morning, I drove out to Hillcrest to pick up one of the guests and drove along Jamaica Ave. The abandoned el structure from 121st St. to Queens Blvd. was still intact. |
