Weekend Q Train Travel Woes

Posted by heypaul on Sun Sep 29 12:09:24 2024

This weekend, Q train runs only between Coney Island and Prospect Park.

Next weekend Q runs in 2 sections: Coney Island to Kings Hwy. 34 St to 96 St.

Interestingly, this weekend they're sending the M to 96th.

By doing so, it also helps supports the L, which is shut between Lorimer and 8th Ave.

Yet I was just at Union Square yesterday, and the signs announcing no L forgot to mention that you could take an M to Brooklyn at 6th Ave.

Who the L cares about the L?

The fun continues for the next few weeks due to the roadbed being dug up leading to skeletonized track in the northbound direction between Prospect Park & 7th Ave.
This means a 10 MPH speed limit over said track.

Oh, don't forget the slow speed order due to falling leaves on all tracks between prospect Park and Newkirk Plaza, or is it Ave. H because of the hill?

Lots of luck Brighton Line crews and riders.

That's interesting. For many months I've noticed some rough patches between Prospect Park & 7th Ave, where the suspension feels like it's bottoming out.

Is there a water problem coming from PP? I remember long ago riding in that stretch with the storm door window down and having to duck at some spots where there always seemed to be water dropping down.

I guess Q trains will need sleeper cars.

The hipster moniker is pretty dated at this point. It has become inundated with tourists and young people looking for bars, and the buildings along the waterfront became a mecca for the unhip Wall St types.

Denver's light rail system has slow zones in many spots while track woth is being done. A lot of customers are frustrated as a result.
