Scoot/car Collision

Yesterday service disrupted between Ronkonkoma and Greenport when a car was struck at a crossing in manorville. No injuries reported

It was a taxi who apparently went around the gates. The driver was killed and the passenger seriously wounded.

Damn. Talk about wrong place/wrong time. How's the service level on that line these days, 3-4 trains a day? Idiot cab driver probably thought that the down gates were defective.

Far less important: The number of the locomotive leading the train? Do such locomotives have forward-looking cameras? The taxi was crumpled. I wonder where it landed after the crash, that is, did the train roll by the crushed taxi?

In situations like that, the RR will put in a claim to the cars insurance company to cover damage to the train and or any part of damaged ROW
