Rode the R46 on the G daily during a stretch in 2006. Never really cared about the G line so I can't say I'm sad lol. Perfer to ride R46 on the N/Q/W lines as a railfan. So I guess this means theres no more R160s on the N/Q/W. |

Of course nowadays being assigned the oldest B-Division rolling stock is a double whammy: on top of poor reliability, you're also stuck with the 75-footers' increased boarding and dwelling times. |

I was wondering when the G's would get the R160's, frankly . . . twice (in 2018 and 2019) I travelled to Brooklyn to attend the WFMU Record Fair, and could hear in my head as we passed each station on the G line, how such announcements at those stations as from these cars would have sounded like. |

Ahhh the R10's on the GG. You'd hear them coming long before the headlights would illuminate the tunnel. Especially with their flat spotted wheels. |

I still regret never getting a pic of the Twins from Smith-9th St 😟If I ever get back to NYC, I won't make that mistake again (albeit it would just be 1 WTC this time) |

I'm back in high school, transferring from the RR to the F!Oh, and I was wrong. I always insisted the trains were in 5 car sets, but now I know they were 7 car sets. |

They were supposed to be 8 car sets, but when I would get sent to Queens as a trainmaster, most of the time due to car shortages, we allowed 7 car trains on the GG in order to make "full service." |

There's a 7-car marker at some station along the line, forgot which. Also it appears there is one R68A consist back on the G as of today. This was unlikely to happen but it did. Happy hunting! |

Yeah, seven-car R-10 "GG" trains were quite common. And now, these four images taken at Jamaica Yard. Yeah, the R-10's did see better days though...All images are credited to the original photographer or archived collection as posted on the nycsubway.org website. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -William A.
