COMPLETE PC Timetable

Posted by kp5308 on Mon Mar 8 20:33:29 2021

A few weeks back Chuck asked me to post all the information in the last Penn Central East West Timetable issued. Front side:
Penn Central timetable 03-1971
PC ex-PRR side timetable
PC ex-NYC side timetable 3-3-71

Back side:
PC ex-PRR timetable 3-3-71
PC ex-NYC side timetable 3-3-71
Penn Central fares panel 3-3-1971

As far as I can tell PC used the same format for the "cover" for this particular intercity schedule for the entire time the service was offered, only changing the color:

I'm wondering why the line from New York to Montreal is shown passing to the east of Albany, rather than through it. Did the trains not cross the Hudson at Albany?

Penn Central shifted operations from Alban Union station over to Rensselaer in late 1968.

Yes. But Albany is shown on that map as a station for trains heading west, but the trains continuing north are shown passing east of it. Did those trains (i.e. the Adirondack) not always go by way of Schenectady?

Albany is shown on the map for trains to Buffalo but the timetable lists Albany-Renselaar.
