Posted by Train Dude on Tue May 5 16:45:13 2020 This morning Amtrak Loco #42 was spotted at LaPlata, MO, heading the Southwest Chief to Chicago. I only mention it because I find it the smartest looking of all the Amtrak P42DC locos.Loco#42 video here |

That engine was used on a a Fall Foliage trip a few years ago to Harrisburg via the LV and Reading. It is also the only P42 that can remotely raise and lower pantographs on a ACS Sprinter electric loco when MU'd. |

I hope they find new life on a commuter railroad when Amtrak is done with them soon, they can fit pretty much anywhere in the country, so I imagine it won't be too hard for them to find a new home. |
