Landmark the Loop !BTW, there was a pop group called Chicago Loop that should be confused with the more popular Chicago Transit Authority, later called "Chicago." Bill Newkirk |

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the Chicago Loop did receive landmark status which is what prevented some of the lines outside the loop from being completely routed into the subways and the loop el being demolished. |

The Congress Street stub terminal of the South Side "L" was the last to go, serving the North Shore Line's baggage terminal until the interurban' demise in 1963. It last saw CTA service in 1948.Alan Follett Hercules, CA |

There was also an English group called "Jackson Heights" - had at least one album out during the late 60's.And for the Underground, there was another group from England called "Finchley Central." IIRC, the album cover included that part of the Underground map's Northern Line. |

It’s a one of a kind PCC built by Clark Equip Co (the same company that built the BMT Bluebird) and I believe it was purchased to replace the original PCC car #1000 which was intended for Bkln but delivered to Boston instead. |

I wonder, though, whether official landmark status would have complicated the replacement of Madison-Wabash and Randolph-Wabash with the new Washington-Wabash station, or the forthcoming installation of neon art on the structure along several blocks of Wabash.Alan Follett Hercules, CA |
