Why wouldn't they be restored? Wouldn't they make a fantastic addition to TOMM?I didn't say they wouldn't be restored, I simply said it would be very time consuming to make them road worthy. So they wouldn't be running any time soon. Also the current climate of breakdowns especially some issues with R-46's would make restoration of the R-10's a lesser priority. I may be wrong about the above comment, but I still would like to see both R-10's restored to running condition. Bill Newkirk |

Time is short to get them running and Road Tested. Maybe the aces at 207th Street can pull off another miracle! |

Certain R-21 and 22 cars were retrofitted as work motors and had their original ME-42 brake valves replaced by ME-43 brake valves. The master controllers were also replaced so that if there we not sufficient ME-42 brake valves available, the cab controls can be replaced by the parts that are currently available without compromising the external appearance of the cars |

Based upon my own viewing over what is at 207th Street Yard yesterday (7/4/2017), R-10 #3184 should be inside the facility now, while #3189 is outside the barn, coupled with SBK locomotive #6, R-1 #103 and WFLV #5655. All the other museum cars as transferred are also outside in the yard and coupled together of sorts (i.e. R-17 #6609, R-32 #3352-3353 and R-36 #9542-9543), and as visible as watching from the University Heights Bridge. Also, R-6 #1300 is outside the motor shop, and the museum cars used in this year's "Parade of Trains" (the AB's, the D's and R-1/9's #381-401-1000-1802), except the BRT elevated cars (#1404-1273-1407), were outside the barn, and are visible from the IRT #1 line at the 207th Street-10th Avenue elevated station (or when passing by while riding an uptown #1 train). -William A.
