But that does not occur on the curve between Woodhaven Blvd & Forest Pkwy, which is about as sharp. Woodhaven Blvd station also has indicators of conversion to an express stop). |

I think they want to keep the routes of the J and Z identical, with the only difference between them being which stations are skipped during skip-stop operation. Otherwise, if one was a true express and the other wasn't, the people at stations served by the local would complain, and they would transfer to the express at Broadway Junction, causing unbalanced loading of the trains. |

Then as now, that decision was deferred until they decided how they were going to deal with the structure from Alabama to Cypress Hills. If the IND QB hadn't been built, I would expect an express track there right now. |

Well, if this is all a hypothetical, why not make Woodhaven a 2 island platform 3 track station and build a single track el from Cypress to Alabama via Jamaica av? If that doesn't entice people to pick the (Z) over the (E), then nothing will. :) |

Also converting Woodhaven into an express stop could be done to appease the residents of that area to deal with the middle track 'blocking out their sunlight'. |

Hypothetically you would install the center track from the portals, all the way to Cypress Hills. If so , you have my support.I think an el, like that used for the AIRTRAIN, would be quick, and quite. |

When J trains terminated at Queens Blvd Station, the El continued past that station and stub ended at the west side of Sutphin Blvd & Jamaica Ave. J trains were stored on those tracks just past the now-demolished Queens Blvd Station. Remember it very clearly. |

The only thing I can’t figure out is why there were no provisions for any express stations anywhere along the line. Even though a center track was never installed, I would think that certain stations of relative importance like possibly Woodhaven Blvd or Sutphin Blvd would have been constructed like WYckoff/Myrtle with a provision for express service. The Liberty Av extension of the Fulton St el similarly lacked provisions for express service even though the portion of the Fulton St El between Franklin and Atlantic did run express service. |

From what I have been able to glean from reading the articles, it seems that it would have been unnecessarily long. It seems that it would have branched off the Fulton St portion of the line in the area of Cleveland St and connected to the Jamaica Av structure around Elderts Lane. |

Mikey, imagine how different the neighborhood would have looked? I seem to remember people always pushing for the Rockaway LIRR, and better J service. In our time in Woodhaven, it made sense that they didn't do anything. They could barely make service, let alone expand. The only reason the 70's crap got finished, is because the Feds made them. |
