People who are mentally ill face considerable stigma, and this problem is not helped by people declaring: "Oh, that guy's an asshole— he must be mentally ill. That guy in the news commit a mass murder and is white so he must have been mentally ill." Terrapin is an asshole, yes. We all know as much. However, I have yet to see any evidence that he is mentally ill, and conflating assholery and mental illness doesn't do any favours to the people who actually are mentally ill. |

The difference is, at airliners.net, the post still appears on the main board (they don't have a "reef"). There's a lock icon on the post.And of all times, none of the posts on the first page over there are locked at this time. I guess if anyone wants to scroll through the pages, they can find an example (the most common reason is an ongoing thread where there are too many replies (the threshold seems to be around 250 or so), so the moderators will lock it, and create a new thread with "Part 2 (or 3 or 4 or whatever)". I think the MH 370 threads are currently on part 75 (!) |
