PHOTOS: Tucson, Arizona - Old Pueblo Trolley (2006)

The OPT hasn't run since 2011. The tracks shown in these pics were torn out and replaced with new double track for the Sun Link streetcar which started running last year. OPT and the city want to resume heritage streetcar operation on weekends, but they're apparently still working out the details.

In the meantime, here are some scenes from the "good old days"...

interesting!!! Wish we still had them. We lost our streetcars in 1963. All we have now is buses, buses, buses!!!!

Haha... I was like... "that streetcar looks Japanese" ... see the interior signs... "yup, Japanese."

Awesome. I'll have to get out there to sample it and the Belgium and Toronto cars whenever historic operations resume...

Great photos, cool streetcar.

I normally detest heritage operations, but this is pretty neat.

Me too. It screamed Kyoto, although the ads inside are from its Osaka days.

Actually, it looks like they'll be running something different when they start up again. While Googling around for information to put on my web page about the OPT, I found a forum thread somewhere in which one of the OPT guys said they were working on car 524 from Lisbon, Portugal.

The Wikipedia page mentioned something about planning to acquire two additional heritage cars. Perhaps the plan is to give the LR cars one day of rest and run the entire Sunday (or Saturday) schedule with them...
